Help, I cant Breath Just quit smoking…. 25 days and counting now this!?

I was a smoker for 12 years (started at age 16); I have been smoke free for 25 days now. The fist 10-15 days no problems felt like I was floating, now I feel like crap. I have this feeling in my chest like I want to cough-up a hair ball, I have dry cough, at times I do cough-up some mucus (clear), tightness/tingling in my chest, and I cant get a deep enough breath, post-nasal drip, my chest is sore, it hurts when I breath-in deep, it is to say the least unbearable. I did have asthma when I was a child; it went dormant now it’s back again. I went to the ER today; they did an x-ray, blood work, EKG the works! Thank God nothing wrong (no tumor, no emphysema, no fluid in the lungs, no blood cloth, no heart attack, etc). So with all that eliminated what do I have? Is this a cleansing phase, or is it; Lymphangioleiomyomatosis, Chylous effusions, Dyspnea, Hemoptysis, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), chronic bronchitis??? The inhaler only works for 30 MINS. HELP!

This will go away. I too was a smoker for 20 years and stopped with the help of patches. Before I stopped smoking I myself developed asthma (so I had to stop), but as time went own it got worse, and now I have severe asthma (Family History though). It is going to take a long while for all the poisons to get out of your system it just don’t happen in a few days, you smoked for 12 years that is 12 years of poisons in your system. I have been smoke free for 3 years and still have episodes of all this, but it does get better. And Congratulations on becoming a non-smoker you will live a much healthier life. Oh, get plenty of exercise that will help too.
