asthma flu symptoms
For asthma patients, would taking cold/flu meds be bad for our condition?
Chest congestion relievers products such as Robitussin only work to loosen the phlegm in the chest, which makes it easier to cough it up and feel better….but when you have a bad cold or a flu, the medicine I notice actually might suppress that. It also has stimulant effects to a degree, with the whole nasal congestion thing.
But for asthma patients, such as myself, suppressing a cough, keeping the mucus down, etc,…might not be such a good idea, and can lead into even more chest heaviness, and make the symptoms of asthma worse.
Any advice?
The best medication for an asthmatic with a cough is their asthma rescue medication.
